Alsoils+ Bark Mulch is light in appearance and is made using high-quality compost and tree bark. Using Bark Mulch and chippings, helps suppress weeds and protect plants from all types of weather, as well as creating an attractive finish to beds & borders.

Our bark mulch provides a protective layer over the soil, helping to retain moisture and control weed growth – it also provides a natural barrier against soil erosion and helps to regulate soil temperature, providing an ideal environment for your plants to thrive. Over time, our bark mulch breaks down, enriching the soil with vital nutrients and organic matter. All of our bulk bags are filled to the brim, so you can be sure that you get the best value for money and a high-quality product.

Is bark a good mulch?

Shredded or chipped materials from both broadleaf and conifer sources, make an excellent mulch for use in the garden. These materials decompose slowly making them long-lived, reducing the need for re-application.

How long does your bark mulch last?

Our premium bark mulch and wood chippings will have a practical life span of 4 – 7 years and an aesthetic life span of 1 -2 years depending on the levels of usage.

How thick should you spread bark mulch?

A 3 – 4 inch layer of bark mulch would be appropriate for well-drained sites around trees and shrubs, but if you’re spreading on heavy soils, a 2 – 3 inch layer would be sufficient.

Delivery Information

Our Bark Mulch bulk bag deliveries are typically made using a tail-lift and hand manoeuvred pump truck and for those who have large fences or walls, we also deliver Bark Mulch via a vehicle with a crane offload.

Being a local, family-run business we only have the capabilities to deliver topsoil, manure, mulch and other products to areas near our HQ in Hambledon, Hampshire (see our delivery zones page for more information). Please note, we are currently unable to deliver bulk bags of Bark Mulch within the Portsmouth Clean Air Zone.

Ordered topsoil on Tuesday came by Friday at the exact time quoted. Was WAY cheaper than anywhere else (by about £15 per bag) and was dropped off via a crane on back of the lorry, not by pallet which most of the other places use. Soil was fine and dry. Brilliant !
